Thames Park Students were treated to a night of music, dancing, and fun at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London's West End, where they saw the hit musical & Juliet. The show, which tells the story of Juliet Capulet after she decides not to kill herself at the end of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, has been a huge success since it premiered in 2019, and our students were thrilled to be able to see it live on stage.
The students were buzzing with excitement as they arrived at the theatre, and the atmosphere inside was electric. The cast of & Juliet did not disappoint, with fantastic performances from the entire cast, including Miriam-Teak Lee as Juliet, Cassidy Janson as Anne Hathaway, and Oliver Tompsett as William Shakespeare.
The show is a celebration of pop music, with classic hits from the likes of Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and Katy Perry, all given a fresh and exciting new twist. The students were dancing in their seats throughout the show, and the energy in the theatre was infectious.
One of the highlights of the evening was the performance of "It's My Life" by Bon Jovi, which had the entire audience on their feet, singing and dancing along. Another standout moment was the beautiful rendition of "Roar" by Katy Perry, which was performed by Miriam-Teak Lee as Juliet.
As well as being hugely entertaining, the show also had a powerful message about the importance of following your dreams and living life on your own terms. This message resonated with our students, who left the theatre feeling inspired and motivated to pursue their own passions.
Overall, the school trip to see & Juliet was a huge success, and an experience that our students will never forget. We would like to thank the staff at the Shaftesbury Theatre for their warm welcome and for putting on such an amazing show. We would also like to thank our students for their fantastic behavior and for being such a great group to travel with. We hope to have the opportunity to see more shows like this in the future!
