Wellbeing
Our student's wellbeing is incredibly important to all members of staff at Thames Park. We have mental health and wellbeing running throughout our curriculum and tied to the co-operative values of self responsibility, openness, self-help and caring for others. All staff are trained to look out for and support our students.
We also make sure that for those who need extra intervention there is a range of support such as individual mentoring, intervention groups for anxiety, bereavement and anger management.
At Thames Park we are committed to providing support to all students which is enhanced through our dedicated Pastoral team. The team provides multi-functional support across the school in relation to SEN, medical, behaviour and wellbeing. Staff are trained in key areas and work closely with multi-agency teams to create an environment where our students can thrive and achieve.
Students can take advantage of our ‘open door’ policy where a member of the team is readily available.
These are quotes given by our Year 7 Students:
“If you can’t talk to anyone else in school it’s a good place to come. Someone will listen”.
“There are activities for you do to calm down.”
“It’s a place you can relax and talk to friends.”
A team of year 8 pupils were trained as Wellbeing Champions in September 2021 to support their peers throughout the year.
