20/05/2022Year 7 Silva visit the Globe TheatrePupils in 7 Silva enjoyed visiting the Globe Theatre in London on Friday 20th May. Students were able to explore the space of the Globe and had the opportunity to quote lines of Shakespeare to experiment with the acoustics of the space. They learned about the history of the Globe theatre and the mechanics and structure of the building. Additionally, pupils visited the Tower of London and Tower Bridge to take pictures of famous London architecture.
20/05/2022Author Jennifer Bell visits Thames ParkAuthor Jennifer Bell attended school today to promote her new book Legendarium which is the second in the series following on from Wonderscape. Ms Bell spent over an hour with the students giving a presentation and sharing her enthiaism for literature with all. Students were then given the rare opportunnity to have their books peronsally signed with dedications from Ms Bell herself.
17/05/2022This week's assemblyThis week my assembly was all about the importance of discussing books and reading. Staff and pupils shared their favourite books with their year group which generated lots of discussion about the books we have in our Library and classrooms. Students were also encouraged to think about how reading is not only important for academic success, but also good for their minds and wellbeing. Many students gave examples of how they use books to escape from everyday stresses and they expressed how they value the time they are given at school to read.
12/05/2022Today's site visitAnother pupil site visit with 14 year 7 and 8 pupils going to see and hear about their new school. A bespoke programme is prepared for our pupils with our contractors B&K with our pupils working with the team. This gives a real feeling of equality to the students knowing that they will all visit before the opening day.
