Thames Park Secondary School Leads the Way in Music Education
Thurrock, Essex – Thames Park Secondary School is proud to announce its new role as a lead school in the Greater Essex Music Hub, a prestigious initiative supported by Arts Council England. This exciting development aims to expand access to music education across Essex, Southend, and Thurrock.
In a recent radio interview with BBC Radio Essex's Ben Fryer, Mrs Green, Head of Music at Thames Park and part of the Osborne Co-operative Academy Trust, shared her passion for music and its transformative impact on students. “Music isn’t just about learning an instrument,” she explained. “It’s about building resilience, teamwork, and confidence—skills that benefit students far beyond the classroom.”
Mrs Green highlighted the school’s inclusive and creative curriculum, which encourages all students to participate in music, whether they’re beginners or advanced performers. From regular concerts to one-on-one support, students are empowered to explore their musical interests in a supportive environment.
As part of the Music Hub, Thames Park will also support other local schools by hosting teacher networking events and sharing best practices. “Some schools only have one music teacher,” Michelle noted. “This initiative helps ensure no teacher feels isolated and that every student has the opportunity to experience the joy of music.”
This recognition reflects Thames Park’s commitment to a well-rounded education and its belief in the power of the arts to enrich young lives.
